Today as you go about your day, maybe you are having a bad moment, a bad day or even having a bad week. Through it all, remember this, you have something that many people don’t have. That many are fighting for. You have LIFE. Peace!
Know what I found out today? That all the stuff I’ve ever stressed about are all gone! Yep, all the BIG things I stayed awake thinking about, disappeared with time. Can you believe that? So next time you start stressing about something that you imagine to be BIG and life-threatening, imagine yourself a year from that time. That stress would be a distant memory too. Trust me.
I love the uneasiness and awkwardness that follows when someone inadvertently say something to someone of another race or even sexual orientation that could be construed as racist. It shows how much we walk on egg shells and can’t even be ourselves for fear of hurting someone.
A while ago, at an old workplace, I was goofing around with a white co-worker and trying to grab something of his. He was an older fella and he jokingly told me to, ‘get my cotton-picking hands off of his stuff.’ Well as soon as the last word was out of his mouth, he paled. I was black! Blacks and cotton have some bad history. Instead of going about his business, the man apologized profusely, thus compounding an issue that wasn’t even there in the first place.
I am sorry but I find it funny. It’s so much fun being black. More about that later.
I am a Christian and a believer in God but yesterday as I was thinking about hell and the anguish it involves, I came to the conclusion that hell just could not be real. One of the main reasons why I came to that conclusion was that I really could not fathom how the God I read about in the Bible as being so loving and forgiving, could stand by and watch his creation suffer such a harsh and cruel punishment.
The Bible urges us to forgive 70 times 7 which is basically saying to forgive endlessly. Well if we who are mere mortals should forgive every single transgression, why wouldn’t or shouldn’t our maker do the same? Shouldn’t he forgive those who do not believe in him instead of condemning them to eternal fiery damnation? How about a lesser punishment instead of one so barbaric?
So you see, it just doesn’t make sense. It defies logic. It flies in the face of reason. If Hell is indeed real, then the Devil won a consolation prize. In the end he got to split the spoils with God. “How about this, buddy. You take what you want and give me the rest.”
Know why there some girls are bigger? It’s because they have too much awesomeness to be contained in a skinny anorexic body. Seriously! I have ‘bigger’ gal friends and they are awesome! I mean, there could be other reasons like medical or food addiction but for the most part, they are just awesome! Bigger girls rule!
Have you ever had the feeling to get up and go for a run? Like a real urge. You can feel the wind in your face, your feet pumping effortlessly and you take in the scenery. So you go running. A few steps, and while huffing and puffing, you wonder “Whose bright idea was this anyway?” I have. A lot of times.
Have you ever been in a rich neighborhood and in one yard to be sent to the garbage is an old piece of furniture that made you go, ‘They seriously had that in their house?’ I have. Lots of times. They could afford the house but not the contents? Or maybe they were just holding on it for nostalgic reasons?
This one’s not going to go over too well with fans of the lovely and sissy game of basketball. A group of tough looking dudes bouncing a ball up and down a court and acting like a bunch of cry-babies if they get touched ever so slightly by an opposing player Ref! You saw that? I think he just shot me! I know, it takes skills to er…jump? Ok, well at least dribble. Like bouncing a ball while looking your opponent in the face. Mad skills. Look ma, no eyes! Ever seen it when a player bounces it between his legs then through the other guy’s legs or around him for a breakaway? Sweet! God forbid if someone puts their hands up and touches him on his way to a clean lay-up.
They go up, they score, they come down, they score, up score, down, score…120 – 155 final score and a sore neck. Man that was a tight defensive game.
